DESPERATE FOR A HOLIDAY?
Following a year of travel bans, quarantine, uncertainty and missed holidays, many of us are desperate to get away for a break, whether it’s a holiday in the sun or a weekend by the sea in the UK. But, sadly cybercriminals are busy thinking about holidays and travel too … not taking them but exploiting your desperation for a break, with fake websites, advertisements, emails, social media posts, texts and phone calls for holidays, flights, accommodation or pilgrimages that don’t exist. Avoid disappointment and financial losses when booking a trip: start by reading our expert tips on searching and booking holidays and travel safely and securely. Our latest leaflet is attached but if you’d like to read more please visit www.getsafeonline.org
AS WITH ALL UPCOMING EVENTS PLEASE TAKE CARE, FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES AND STAY SAFE.

CALLING THE YOUNG FOLK BETWEEN 16 AND 26
YOU CAN HELP US NOW at #CANDO
Cumbria Community Foundation is looking for young people living in West Cumbria aged between 16-25 who are passionate about their community and making a difference, to join the 2021 #CanDo Youth Advisory Panel.
#CanDo encourages community organisations to apply for funding for community projects, led by young people. Those applications are then considered by a youth panel, putting the decisions firmly in the hands of the next generation. The Youth Advisory Panel will be made up of up to 15 young people with a wide range of lived experiences and a diversity of backgrounds and will form a crucial part of the Foundation’s grant making and steer its charitable work in a more youth-led direction. Funded by Sellafield Ltd, with match funding from Thomas Graham & Sons and local donors, #CanDo is part of Transforming West Cumbria, a multi-year social investment programme developed by Cumbria Community Foundation. Applications for the #CanDo Youth Advisory Panel will close on Friday 9th July, 5pm. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday 27th July and will be held virtually.
GREAT BRITISH SPRING CLEAN
28 MAY TO 13 JUNE 2021
This spring, join Keep Britain Tidy and their community of #Litterheroes on their #MillionMileMission to clear litter from our streets, parks and beaches. Because what is good for our environment is good for our mental and physical health too. In the past 12 months our outdoor spaces and places have mattered to us more than ever before. So join them and help clean up those special places that helped us through lockdown. You can also let them know how many hours & minutes of litter-picking you will pledge during the Great British Spring Clean. You can pledge as an individual or as a group, which at the moment is you plus one other person, a family group or bubble, or a school.
