Lead Youth Worker

Contract details

£15.45 per hour - Fixed-term: 1 June – 31 August:

- June – mid July: 10 hours per week (planning phase)

- Mid July – end August: 30 hours per week (delivery phase)

- Daytime working pattern based on programme schedule

Are you passionate about working with young people and ready to lead a fun, engaging summer programme in rural Cumbria? Northern Fells Group is looking for a Lead Youth Worker to plan, coordinate and deliver our summer youth scheme for primary school-aged children across the Northern Fells area.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on youth work with leadership responsibility. You will begin in June by planning and organising the summer programme, before moving into delivery during the school holidays. You will lead sessions, manage two Youth Workers and ensure activities are safe, inclusive and enjoyable for all young people involved.

Working across Rosley, Caldbeck and surrounding communities, you will help create opportunities for young people to connect, build confidence and have a memorable summer.

What you’ll be doing

- Planning and coordinating the summer youth programme

- Organising venues, resources and activities

- Leading engaging youth sessions for primary school-aged children

- Managing and supporting two Youth Workers

- Creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment

- Coordinating registrations and attendance records

- Managing rotas and supporting programme administration

- Communicating with parents and partners where needed

- Contributing to end-of-programme feedback and evaluation

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

- Passionate about working with young people

- Confident leading activities and managing a small team

- Organised and able to coordinate multiple elements of a programme

- Adaptable, energetic and positive

- A strong communicator with good interpersonal skills

Experience working in youth work, education or community settings is essential, along with experience planning and delivering activities for young people.

A full driving licence and ability to travel across rural locations is desirable.

Are you organised, people-focused and ready to be at the heart of a thriving community space this summer? Northern Fells Group is looking for a Coffee Shop Co-ordinator to lead our much-loved coffee shop at the Mosedale Quaker Meeting House for the 2026 season — a welcoming hub for local residents, walkers and visitors that plays a vital role in reducing isolation and strengthening community connections.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to run a busy, volunteer-led coffee shop in a stunning rural setting.

You’ll start in early June, preparing for the season by recruiting and organising volunteers, setting up systems, and getting everything ready to open. From mid-July to mid-September, the role becomes full-time, focusing on the smooth day-to-day running of the coffee shop.

At its heart, this role is about people. You’ll support a team of volunteers, create a warm and inclusive environment, and ensure every visitor has a positive experience.

What you’ll be doing

·        Leading the day-to-day running of the coffee shop

·        Recruiting, organising and supporting a team of volunteers

·        Creating a friendly, welcoming and well-run environment

·        Managing rotas, stock and ordering

·        Ensuring high standards of customer service

·        Overseeing food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen awareness

·        Handling cash and maintaining simple records

·        Acting as the main link between the coffee shop and the Northern Fells team

·        Providing end-of-season feedback to improve future delivery

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

·        Friendly, approachable and confident working with people

·        Organised and able to manage a busy environment

·        Calm under pressure and solution-focused

·        Comfortable supporting and coordinating volunteers

·        Flexible and able to work weekends during the summer

You don’t need to have managed a coffee shop before, but experience in hospitality, retail, or community work would be beneficial.
